Ledger lashes out at Utah, West Virginia

Heath Ledger has lashed out at the U.S. theaters that banned “Brokeback Mountain” as “immature” and “hilarious.”

The Aussie actor made the comments after learning that two theaters in the heavily Mormon state of Utah have refused to show his flick — which some have dubbed The Gay Cowboy movie.

“Personally, I don’t think the movie is but I think maybe the Mormons in Utah do. I think it’s hilarious and very immature of a society,” Ledger said, reports the Australian paper The Herald Sun.

And whats with the remark about West Virginia? Is something happening there concerning the movie that hasn't gotten any attention here?

3. I saw that and it shocked me for a minute

being from West Virginia, I didn't remember any lynchings in the last 25 years but I do think I know what he's referring to

a few years back, a gay man was killed by three others when he threatened to tell people that he was having sex with them

seems to think Heath has a tenuous grasp on American history--this could be what he's referring to!

4. Yes, we definitely should be putting resources into this

Instead of into ENDA or gay marriage.

What a noble struggle for us to ensure our equality -- making sure a movie about married closet-case fuckbuddies gets shown on big screens in Utah, rather than letting folks buy the DVD when it comes out.

Nothing is more important than ensuring the production company makes huge profits!

Geesh, I didn't realize we all had to spend our entire lives being radicals!
