Anti-Gay Group Releases Poll To Pressure Washington Supreme Court Marriage
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/01/011206waMarr.htm

A poll taken for a conservative Christian group of Washington voters shows that justices on the state Supreme Court and Democrats could take a beating in the next election if the court approves same-sex marriage.

The survey shows that more than half (54 percent) of the people polled said they would be less likely to vote for a justice who supported overturning the state's Defense of Marriage Act.

The poll posed the marriage question to 504 voters across the state. It was done by the Elway Research, a Washington-based polling company for the Faith and Freedom Network.

FFN believes that homosexuality is a matter of choice and can be "cured" by faith in God.

I wonder how the questions were worded

1. If gays got married, thereby destroying your marriage, making your
children gay, robbing you of grandchildren, causing your taxes to double, the bank to foreclose on your church building and forcing you to watch gay movies at every theater - would you be more or less likely to vote for the justice who overturned the state's DOMA?

2. Yeah, how were they worded--and 54% isn't that high, and might not
make an impact.

If I were one of the justices, I would tell this group to fuck itself--they SHOULD be interpreting the law impartially, not being swayed by public opinion--oh, at least until they make it to the US Supreme Court!

3. Only 54%? That's very encouraging! WA is coming around.

4. The thing is...
If the Court votes against equal marriage, there will still be 54% of the people who will seek to throw out the judges. (Assuming a 3% margin of error -- small, considering they surveyed only 504 people -- and then skewed results to the top of that margin.)

And that Chief Justice Alexander all but admitted the ruling would not come until towards the end of the legislative session implies that my predition a year ago will come to pass: the Court will punt the issue to the lawmakers (and thus, they hope, save their collective ass in the election) and direct popular anger at their representatives and senators. If they do that... I'll vote against the SOBs anyway for refusing to do their constitutionally appointed job.
