Dem. For Fla. Gov. Supports Gay Adoption, Not Marriage
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/02/020506flaGov.htm

Same-sex couples should be able to adopt children, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jim Davis told a largely gay group on the weekend. But the Tampa congressman later told reporters that he does not support gay marriage in Florida.

Davis spoke at a conference of the Florida Gay-Lesbian-Bisexual-Transgender Democratic Caucus.

"I believe, as my grandfather did, that we are all equal in the eyes of God," he said. "What matters is on the inside."

Davis also told the conference that he would work to reduce school class sizes and fight oil drilling off Florida beaches. Citing the Terri Schiavo case, he said he thought family members should make end-of-life decisions without government interference.

2. His position is about as reasonable as possible in FLA
" He told reporters afterward that he supported civil unions, but he did not think the state was ready for a Massachusetts-style system allowing marriage between same-sex partners."

3. Then institute the damn civil unions
I'm tired of hearing people being wishy-washy on the subject. Bush pulled this same crap just before the elections, when he was all against gay marriage building up to the election, then a few days beforehand, he says "well I can probably support civil unions," most likely just to try and drum up a few gay votes in what was sure to be a close election.

If you don't want gay marriage, but would support civil unions, start putting in work to make gay civil unions a reality. Don't just throw that line out there to try and keep from getting blacklisted by GLBT-friendly people.
