T plus one and counting...
I got my first shot of testosterone today. :-D I have made a post about this in the Lounge but I am too excited not to share it here as well! I had not planned on this happening today. I thought it would be April, but the doc offered... when the opportunity strikes to be stuck in the behind by something you know you really want, you don't turn it down so easily.

Will you eventually be injecting yourself or will you have someone to help you with that? I inject my SO with T weekly. I have never handled a needle before, I practiced on an apple to get used to the idea. 40 weeks later, he expects to go through the name/gender change in May. Luckily the families have been supportive.

It's amazing how fast the voice changes. You might want to record your voice during your transition.

Good Luck!:)

I just read your other entry. Testopel sounds interesting. My SO has been having problems with Depo-Provera and is thinking about stopping that for now.

2. I am setting up the microphone tonight...
I want to do voice clips and also photographs to document the changes. The voice changes are what I look forward to the most - voice is so intimately tied with identity, even more so than face.

I am hoping to get the Testopel testosterone pellets implanted. Those go in every 3 or 4 months, at the doctor's office, and release a steady supply of testosterone. I'd rather not have the ups and downs from injection to injection. However, if the doctor decides that won't be right, I think I will be self-injecting. The injection wasn't really even uncomfortable today compared to a vaccination or to having steroids injected in my ankle.

Thanks for the luck-wishes! And good luck to you and your SO.

3. Best wishes on your path to yourself.
I read Jan Morris' biography "Conundrum" many years ago. I was struck by her comment that she always "felt like a woman." I know religious converts who say the same thing about their new faith. Becoming who you know you are is a blessing.
