British Gay Rights Leader Accused Of Orchestrating Zimbabwe Coup Attempt
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/03/030906zim.htm

The government of Zimbabwe strongman Robert Mugabe on Thursday accused British gay rights leader Peter Tatchell of being behind an alleged coup plot.

The government showed off a cache of arms on Zimbabwe television that is claimed had been seized at the home of one of the plotters.

The government claimed that the man, Peter Hitschmann, was a leader of the Zimbabwean Freedom Movement and that it was a paramilitary organization intent on overthrowing the government.

The creation of the ZFM was announced last year in London by Tatchell, a longtime critic of Mugabe and the government's record on human rights.

looks like Zimbabwe is going to go further down the tubes than it already is

too bad it's highly unlikely that they found weapons that they didn't bring themselves, but if they want to bend public opinion to believe that evil gays are running around with weapons, so much the better.

Unfortunately this is Playbook Strategy #1 in the Discredit Your Enemy chapter. He who controls the press controls the rebuttal. It's all just puerile propaganda although Tatchell is a serious activist.

It's odd that the EU has a weird double standard: don't arrest Mugabe for war crimes because he is Head of State, but okay to arrest Pinochet because he is no longer head of state.

Not that Mugabe plans on retiring any time soon, but George B you might seriously think twice about not paying a visit to Europe after this term is up.
