Mormon Leader: 'Gays Have A Problem'
http://www.365gay.com/newscon04/12/122804ldsGay.htm

The president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints says that gays have "a problem" and need help.

Appearing on CNN's Larry King Live, Gordon B. Hinckley stressed the importance of the traditional family, telling King that of gays, "We love these people and try to work with them and help them. We know they have a problem. We want to help them solve that problem."

King then asked the 94-year old leader of the world's Mormons if the "problem" is one caused by gays themselves or one they were born with.

The only problem I have is from homophobes like the good Mr. Hinckley

How DARE you call him a homophobe!! The only way to GET tolerance is to GIVE tolerance! You're only making it worse for yourself and for everyone else. What will people think when they see your name-calling and hatred? He's only saying these things because he's following his Lord. :eyes:

you keep posting about how they hate so we should hate back. why? what does that solve? i know you think the alternative is to roll over and play dead. its not. you can be strong without being an asshole to others

15. Do They Deserve Better?
>> you keep posting about how they hate so we should hate back. <<

I'm sincerely sorry if that's the impression I gave. I wouldn't dare to suggest what anyone should or shouldn't feel.

What I *am* arguing is that those people who tell me that *I* shouldn't hate have SOME NERVE to tell ME what to feel and what to think and how to act and how to react. WHY ON EARTH WOULD I BE TELLING SOMEONE ELSE HOW THEY SHOULD FEEL??

7. Damn right I have a problem...
I have a problem with people who think their religion gives them the right to try to decide how I should live my life and what rights I should have as a veteran and citizen of the supposedly most free nation in the world.

10. Everyone should read "Under the Banner of Heaven" to see who
really has the "problem." The horror of polygamy grew out of Mormonism and it is still part of their "doctrine," although they officially disavow it.

11. This points directly to the question . . .
This points directly to the question . . . Why did Massachusetts vote into office a Mormon governor? Who tried his damnedest to prevent Goodridge v. Department of Public Health from taking effect? And, yes, he's still trying to toss out same-sex marriage in Massachusetts -- in public and behind the scenes. He, also, cut back abortion funding as well as other related matters.

No, I have nothing against Mormons. Nope. I practice what I preach, i.e., freedom of religion, no discrimination. However, this Mormon, Mitt Romney, gave off whiffs of pushing his own religion into Massachusetts laws before we Massachusetts folks elected him into the governor's corner office in the Statehouse. Romney was/is an elder in his church, a bishop in his church, and was head of the entire church in the northeast. He, alone, got a humongous temple (highly litigated) in a residential neighborhood in Belmont, Massachusetts where he allegedly resides (I say "allegedly" because he really resides in Utah - more litigation).

Yes, Massachusetts was forewarned. Yet, there he sits. Pushing and using the Massachusetts governorship to get into the Oval Office.

Okay, I'll get off my soapbox. Perhaps this post belongs in DU Massachusetts. Thanks for your patience.

19. Believe it or not, their general stance now is an improvement
They used to believe that it was all a choice we had made to be sinners. Now, there is starting to be acknowledgement that it might be innate but their reaction to that is that it is a challenge given to us by God to overcome.
