Pope Attacks Gay Marriage
Yet more love from the Nazi who wears garish ballgowns and carries a handbag prone to smoking.

By Philip Pullella

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Benedict, speaking out on a topic that Italy's incoming centre-left government will likely have to confront, on Thursday condemned gay marriage and legal recognition of unwed couples.

The 79-year-old German Pope immediately came under fire from some leftists who accused him of trying to write the country's political agenda.

The Pope, speaking to a conference on marriage and the family, reaffirmed the Church's position that marriage had to be a union between a man and a woman and open to procreation.

"Only the rock of total and irrevocable love between a man and a woman is capable of being the foundation of building a society that becomes a home for all mankind," he said.

He told the group that marriage was between a man and a woman "who are open to the transmission of life and thus cooperate with God in the generation of new human beings".

I'm so sick of having to hear the hate speech handed down by the Catholic church. :puke: Shame on them for electing this hateful bastard Pope.

Edited on Wed May-17-06 04:39 PM by goclark

He is a Nazi and he needs to get his own Priets from having sexual encounters with little boys!

That should keep him busy for a long long time.

This is all smoke and mirrors!

What face does HE see when he looks in the mirror!

Who is he to dare to put anyone down that happens to be homosexual?
How dare he!

:puke:

6. Kick out all of the kid-diddlers. THEN complain about homosexuals.
That's one fucking huge plank in the Catholic Church's eye.

9. Protestants attack gay marriage
I didn't want anybody to think that it was just the Catholic heirarchy that opposes gay marriage. There are all those fundamentalist protestant assholes with their "God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" bumperstickers.
I wonder if any DUers have used those stickers to attack the protestants, or if the criticism is just reserved for Catholics?
Also those bumperstickers saying "Marriage =" then it shows a silhouette of a male body and female body (wearing a skirt). It can't possibly be just Catholics and not protestants displaying those bumperstickers.
Again, I wonder if some feel the need to attack Catholics but not the Protestants? The answer to my questions may prove that there are other forms of bigotry other than Homophobia.

10. I've pretty much had it up to my ears
with fuckwads who whine about supposed "bigotry" towards Catholics or Fundies when gay people object to being the constant object of hatred.

I don't see any gay people trying to stop Catholics from getting married.
I don't see any gay people trying to stop Catholics from having children.
I don't see any gay people trying to pass constitutional amendments against Catholics.
I don't see any gay people yapping on a weekly basis about the "immorality" of all Catholics
I don't see any gay people banning Catholics from joining the military.
I don't see any gay people trying to stop Catholics from having employment and housing protection.

Yet your Pope and your church does this chronically and INSTITUTIONALLY to gay people.

And then you have the balls to whine about supposed "bigotry" because we defend ourselves?

So your dynamic is that if the Catholic church actively tries to destroy our legal rights and our families and our lives, when we fight back, *WE* are the bigots?

In other words, had the Jews fought back against the Nazis, the Jews would have been violating the Nazi's rights to be bigoted against Jews?

THat's one fucked up philosophy, dude.

12. Fuckwads? Who me?
There's as much homophobia among the Protestant church leadership as there is among the Catholic church leadership. For WHATEVER reason, some people choose to criticize all Catholics for what their heirarchy does, but those same people fail to criticize the Protestant lay-people, or their clergy, for the exact same actions. Can you explain why that happens?

Every single one of you "I don't see any..." remarks could have substituted "Protestant" instead of "Catholic", but they didn't. Clearly there are just as many Protestants doing the things you object to, yet all of your posts mentioned Catholics, as if every single one of us has done harm to you. You can believe that if you want, but you're wrong. You mention the Pope, but what about Jerry Falwell? Pat Robertson? Do they support full civil rights for homosexuals? I do and I'm a Catholic. Please learn to accept those facts.

17. Actually
I object just as strenuously, if not more so, when certain evangelical protestants spew their incessant bigotry.

If you think none of us castigate the actions of the "religious right" here, including Falwell, Dobson, Bauer, Keyes, Robertson and Reed, then you haven't been paying attention.

This news item happened to be about the Pope. So, the response was about the Pope.

but this article was about the Pope. We react similarly whenever some evangelical Protestant expresses a similar sentiment.

Don't get upset because it's an article about apples, and we didn't mention oranges.

19. Religious right is religious right, but...
The pope is a head of state with BILLIONS of dollars pouring in through donations to the Catholic church and he serves for life. Compare that to President Monkey Bone, who is at least term-limited.

22. Nope, we hate all religious bigots equally.
Whenever the Nazi Pope speaks up, we slap him down, whenever Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson speaks up, we slap them down. Don't worry, there is no bigotry toward Catholics, just perhaps 80% of bigoted Christians who deserve it, and of that 80% Catholics make up roughly 35%.

Of course, Catholics make easy targets. I mean, come on, the whole Pope being a Nazi thing and the child molesting scandals are just too easy. A bit harder to knock other Christians, seeing as how they really do not have a similar hierarchy. Like I said, though, don't worry - most people hate the wacko religious community equally.

15. Does humanity deserve new generations?
Look at our leadership, corporate and political.

Look at the masses and how they act. Most of us shouldn't be breeding, I'm sorry. Pleasure is all and fine, I am talking about raising children to be polite and to cooperate. But everybody is out for self-interest, which includes hurting others.

Pope Smeghead needs to look around before he talks.
