Bryan Singer to Direct Harvey Milk Biopic

Superman Returns director Bryan Singer plans to make a completely different follow-up to the superhero blockbuster--a biopic about homosexual San Francisco supervisor and gay-rights activist Harvey Milk.

The Mayor of Castro Street will portray Milk's story as the first openly gay elected official in a major U.S. city.

In 1978, Milk and San Francisco Mayor George Moscone were assassinated within minutes of each other. Both men were shot several times by Dan White, a former policeman and member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

very impressive-I wonder who they're going to get to play DiFi's hair?

4. Yeah, but her pre-Alexander Haig "I am in charge" moment

was emotional and gutsy. And she had the Frodo-balls to mention Dan White's name as the killer. (I remember that shocking day well).

I hope it happens, though it will be hard to top the wonderfulness of the documentary about Milk that came out many moons ago.

Don't know about the hair question, but I say Tom Hanks cast as HM. I think I read somewhere he was interested.

5. Kevin Spacey is more physically like Milk.

This film, if done right, could positively portray life in the 70s Castro - much maligned by the religious right.

9. As much as I'd like a gay actor to get the role -

it would be great to have mega-star power behind the film. I hope it's a gay-themed-box-office-smash-hit! History and Harvey deserve no less, imho. :hi:
