MassEquality urges you to email Massachusetts legislators TODAY
Date: Wed, 5 Jan 2005 10:22:48 -0500 <10:22:48 AM EST>

Subject: Action Alert: Contact Your Legislators Today

Please Read, Take Action and Forward

Today is another historic day in our campaign to preserve equal marriage rights for same-sex couples in Massachusetts. At 11:00 AM, all 200 elected members of the Massachusetts legislature will be sworn in.

Legislators will vote again this session on a proposed constitutional amendment designed to take away marriage rights from same-sex couples and replace them instead with civil unions. This amendment would enshrine discrimination into the constitution of our state.

Please e-mail your legislators today. Remind them that we are as determined as ever to defend equal marriage rights. Visit http://www.massequality.org/startyear.php to take action.

If legislators pass the amendment as they did last year, it will go to the public for a vote in 2006. It would be wrong for the civil rights of gays and lesbians—or any minority group—to be decided at the ballot box.

Please help us start this legislative session with a strong and unified voice. Urge your legislators to do the right thing and vote down the discriminatory amendment.

Visit http://www.massequality.org/startyear.php to take action.

Thank you,

Your MassEquality Update Team
