On a related note, the Maoist anti-gay fag-hag Brian Camenker at Article Hate Alliance has this to say:

=== 1. Slew of pro-gay candidates in Sept. 19 primaries for seats in Mass. Legislature! Can pro-family candidates hold them off? ===

In about three weeks, the first -- and probably the most important -- phase of the 2006 elections take place: the Sept. 19 primaries. And while everyone's been paying attention to the race for governor, some of the real momentum of state government could be affected at the State House level. And since this is a heavily one-party state (the Republicans can't even sustain a veto) the real action is in the primaries.

There are primary races in 27 seats (out of 200 in all). Five {anti-gay} reps are being challenged in primaries by {pro-equality} candidates. This is where the homosexual lobby really hopes to win, so they can strike fear in anyone in that building who still dares to vote against them. But interestingly, seven {pro-equality} reps are also being challenged in primaries. Plus, there are primaries in 12 open seats, many of which could go either way.

<snip>

This year, though, their tactics appear to be a bit different. The homosexual lobby is flying more "under the radar" so to speak. Not as many public, overt endorsements (tho we've still uncovered them in the gay press) and more behind-the-scenes support. A lot more grassroots, door-to-door campaigning, and personal intimidation tactics. So far, very few mass mailings (tho that will surely change as the elections get closer). But they've still been pretty effective in getting Democratic (and Republican) candidates to cave in rather than face their wrath, despite representing districts that are not overly supportive of the gay movement.

And as usual, the Republican Party is hiding from the issue -- which has been, and will continue to be, a recipe for losing even more seats. In times like this, you have to stand for something. But in a state where the Republican Governor endorses domestic partnerships (yes, that's true) and the Republican Lt. Governor endorses civil unions, there's not much left to grab on to.
