The age of consent is only part of the issue, the real issue is THE IMBALANCE OF POWER. Before this scandal broke,when the pages were being harassed by Foley, I ask you.. In terms of social clout,respect,and who's considered the elder, who's got more power? Foley or a pre/teenage Page? Which of these people was most likely to be heard and taken seriously? Foley already had powerful adults ready to cover for him,and spread denial and try to discredit the page should he ever go public,whom did the pages have? Each other? And with the complicit right wing suck up media ..Who would defend them?

A page is in a much lesser position of power, in that sickening situation. Pages, they are young, they are working at the whitehouse hoping to have a career in politics someday,and a bad word from the likes of asshole Foley could ruin their hopes,get people to dismiss the page as a hysterical teenager,a youngster who is telling tales,and their hopes would be gone. Because the political world is a big clique. Before the scandal broke Foley had alot more power over the life and future of a teenage page than the page had over Foley..It was an abuse of power and trust of a young inexperienced innocent immature person that makes Foley such a detestable scumbag to me..

I have never, in my recollection, read of the crimes of a pedophile where the predator's sexual identity was mentioned if they were straight.
