Pope: Gay Marriage part of "Ideology of Evil"

ROME (Reuters) - Homosexual marriages are part of "a new ideology of evil" that is insidiously threatening society, Pope John Paul says in a new book published Tuesday.

In one section about the role of lawmakers, the Pope takes another swipe at gay marriages when he refers to "pressures" on the European Parliament to allow them.

"It is legitimate and necessary to ask oneself if this is not perhaps part of a new ideology of evil, perhaps more insidious and hidden, which attempts to pit human rights against the family and against man," he writes.

In case anybody is still wondering why they discern some resentment of religion among the GLBT community. The Catholic Church is the largest denomination in the world, and we've just been called evil by its leader.

SCREAM about this again. The Pope can go straight to hell. In fact, because of his sins against homosexuals, God has been crippled in his old age. Yea, that's it.

He's a horrible man who spreads hatred in the name of God. How much lower can a person go?

And his fear of losing power. Nothing more. Move along. People may take him seriously but if they would meet gays, they would see them as people, not demons.

He is encouraging the gay bashing. The pope can F**K off.

I don't think this is something that can be easily minimized. He speaks for almost a billion Catholics around the world, and they take what he says very seriously.

He has ensured himself a legacy of hatred and bigotry.

I can't wait until the day that people wake up and realize that virtue does not come from religion. Obviously being of the cloth does not give insight as to what is moral.

Quick funny story:

A straight guy friend of mine went to a movie forum and someone said "post your lesbian photos here" (meaning porn). Well he posted a picture of Phyllis and Del holding their wedding papers and a picture of Leslie Feinberg and a link to Stone Butch Blues (much to everyone's consernation) He's an awesome guy.

Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon, pioneers in tne struggle for gay rights. Founders of the Daughters of Bilitis, one of the first gay rights groups. We, the gay community, owe a lot to these lovely people.

There are people in this world (like the pope) who espouse hate against us gay folk. But you're right, my friend....we are NOT evil, or sick.

Two people, in a loving, committed relationship, are pursuing an "ideology of evil" just because they want to have their relationshop legally recognized. They're "evil".

Who the hell finds quakers, unitarians, episcopalians, and reform jews (not to mention UCC) as a threat? No one. Not even the atheists who think they're incorrect about the existence of god.

John Paul has been dying for twenty years and he's apparently living in the Middle Ages. You can be against gay marriage for religious reasons, but calling it "evil"? That is supremely ridiculous, especially since the Vatican seems more concerned with "saving" marriage than the epidemic of priests molesting children.

So, it's not a great leap for him to think of loving, legal marriage as "evil"

He will be "young" (that is under 80 most likely under 70 :P ).
