A question regarding presents for adopting gay parents
Do you guys have any suggestions for a present for a friend of mine who is adopting, with his partner, a 3 year old cousin of the partner.
I was going to get a Vermont Teddy Bear and have it sent to the office - would that be alright or should I have it sent to his home. He is openly gay but not really obvious about it to any but his friends and he brings his partner to company outings.
If their finances are tight: Get them an evening out A gift certificate to a restaurant and a movie theater. If you want them to go with the kid, give enough for three. If you want the gentlemen to have a nice evening out (they may want it after dealing with a three year old for a few months) offer to babysit for an evening.
I sent my son (who will be 37 next month) one of the Vermont Teddy Bear's 'Soul Bear' because it wears an armband that says 'courage'.
My son was just recently diagnosed with MS and the bear was delivered the day he started treatment for it. It turned out to be the perfect thing.
As for sending it to your friend's work, it would be appropriate if his colleagues know that he's adopting and the bear would be an occasion for them all to do a mini-celebration. If not, send it to their home.
