I'm just disgusted with the rampant anti-gay rhetoric from the rw.

I was also very shaken by the passing of the 'we hate gays' anti-gay marriage amendment here in MO in August.

My sexual drive is nigh near nonexistent. My fixed dog has a higher sex drive than I do. Now he was fixed after he went through puberty, so he still has a small sex drive, but he is fixed and still has a sex drive higher than mine, intact ovaries and all.

Doesn't bother me any; I am happy to not go through all the drama the rest of you do. It does seem to disturb sexual people, however. I had one neighbor who didn't want her son to go near me (sort of a problem at the time: my dog was the neighborhood mascot) because she thought that if I wasn't having sex with adults I must be keen to have it with kids. I was astonished that the rest of the neighborhood felt it necessary to mention to her that I don't date. Apparently it's a major topic of discussion. They even tried to set me up once.

I also get a lot of the crap single people in general get about being irresponsible. Not irresponsible at all: I am an extremely devoted dog guardian, and I take that more seriously than some people I know take being parents of human children. I just feel no desire to be sexual.

Have lots of gay family and friends.

...raised by my mother and her partner of 25 yrs. They are nearing their "sunset" years, and had been in the closet (with venetian blinds) for the better part of two decades. Issues like hospital visitation rights, inheritance, etc. being denied them here in our home state of Missouri is of much concern.

It's time to leave the Dark Ages behind, but this administration and its supporters seem to be marching boldly into the 13th century.

I got into an arguement with the FedEx man about it the day after the election. Just because I'm happily married with kids, doesn't mean that I'm a homophobe like you.. geesh. He'd have probably really stepped back from me if I told him I was bi. :eyes:

Thanks for the allegiance. DU is such a terrific community - I notice the cameraderie in other forums and it seems too good to believe. I'm so accustomed to not having strong vocal support from straight brothers and sisters. How many of y'all are members of PFLAG? It needs a stronger voice because the 'immoral' and 'special rights' homophobic mantras are such a harsh force.

PFLAG is a very worthy organization to support.
