Ellen and Portia Tie the Knot
A JOYOUS Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres have wed in the backyard of their $33.5 million Beverly Hills estate. Onlookers said the couple, who wed about 4pm local time, looked “ecstatic and couldn’t keep the smiles off their faces or their eyes off each other,” a witness said.

“Portia looked stunning, like a real fairytale princess.”

De Rossi, 35, wore a plunging halter-neck that exposed her entire back, with a cream bodice and full skirt to the ground in blush pink. Her hair was swept up off her face.

My reflexive reaction was the passing thought that they shouldn't have been living together before marriage! I submit this as proof that I have internalized equal rites for all!

Just kidding.

I always liked her standup, and the first Ellen show (I never saw the one that came after it) was a rare sitcom treat. I remember watching the end of one of her episodes where they were just showing take after take of her trying on some sort of exercise contraption, and her line was, "And they were a real bargain! Just X dollars!" and each take she put in a different value for X, and the audience was laughing harder and harder just from her delivery of the line.

to the happy newlyweds and my wishes for a long, happy life together. Ellen has known disappointment in love (Ann Hecche) and like all of us, she deserves joy in her life--maybe even more than most people as she has brought laughter to our lives as well as being out and proud for so many years now, thus being an inspiration to all GLBT people. They make a great-looking couple! YOu GO, Ellen and Portia!

As corny as this may sound, I'm sure there are gay and lesbian kids all over America who are suddenly not so alienated/isolated.

The publicity surrounding their wedding is important and I applaud them for being so "out" about it. :thumbsup:
