New Yorkers Support Gay Marriage

In the first survey of New Yorkers since a judge ruled that a state ban on gay marriage violated the New York Constitution a majority of people say same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

But, the survey also showed support for Mayor Michael Bloomberg's appeal of the ruling.

The Quinnipiac University Poll found that 51 percent of respondents said they favored legalizing gay marriage, while 40 percent were opposed.
