Are there any anti-gay marriage amendment yard signs out there?
Here in Kansas, the vote on our gay marriage amendment is coming up soon, and the freepers down the street have a big "Protect Traditional Marriage" sign in their yard. DH and I would love to put an opposing sign in our yard, but we're having trouble finding one. Anyone know of a source? We have to maintain our rep as the black sheep on the block... ;)

1. don't know
but you could make a sign saying-Protect the Rights of All Committed Couples to be Married or something like that.

Have you asked your neighbors if they plan to divorce if you and your partner get married? If they say no, then ask how in the world does our marriage really hurt yours .

2. Check here.
It is the only place I know of where there might be a sign. http://www.kansansforfairness.org

I am seeing a lot of the traditional marriage signs around here. I am terribly worried about this vote. I taked to an awful lot of people who supported us in the Vote No campaign who will vote for the amendment.

5. I'm worried about it too. And it makes me angry that it's being
presented as a moral issue ... the "protection" of marriage. I'm in a plain old heterosexual marriage, and I honestly don't see any threat here. How could it possibly hurt us or our children to allow gay marriages or civil unions? We have relatives who have been in a stable gay relationship for many years. Has that hurt anyone? Not at all. Grrr.

6. Yes
It is totally stupid and not needed but we are ripe for the picking here by the right.

Change is slow but I do believe we will eventually win this. All the time that goes by before we win will be hard work and pain for our GLBT friends. I hate that most of all. The work is good work and we need as many as we can find to help out.

7. Hypocritical.
There are laws protecting people from being discriminated against because of their sexual orientation, yet the "moral majority" want constitutional "amendments" to do exactly that. Makes me want to :puke:

8. How about "Oppose Phelps"?
Something to reinforce that "protecting traditional marriage" is equal to local boy Fred Phelps's hate.

9. We have to stop
doing that. Seriously, that works to a point but then it ends up spawning off groups that we had a hard time fighting. Citizens for Love and Truth, those kinds of groups who look like your nice neighbor but send out the same message as Fred only with a smile. They are close to impossible to contend with here.

10. I just find it odd that many Kansans
will be ashamed of being from the same state as him, and then will turn around and oppose equal marriage. I guess there is no figuring those kinds of people out.

11. Because he is not addressing
it at all. His is simply hatred for gays. Like I said above, he has spawned other groups who make it seem more tolerable or just simply OK to vote against marriage. They spout lies and religious doctrine and they look like your neighborhood professional, not threatening like Fred.

Fred is not the issue for people here, we ignore him. His people are out on the streets of my city for morning rush hour, noon time, evening rush hour and for every event held. Every day FOR YEARS. He is the wart that you wish was not there but you can't make go away so you stop seeing it. We were able to use him a bit in the city vote but we tried not to. He is not the issue.
