Kansas Conservatives Build War Chest To Fight For Gay Marriage Amendment

Conservative groups from across the country are fueling the push to ban gay marriage in Kansas with massive infusions of cash.

On April 5 Kansas voters will decide whether to amend the state constitution to prevent same-sex marriage. It will be the first time the question has appeared on a ballot since last November when 11 states adopted similar amendments.

The biggest single donation to the pro amendment forces so far is from the Knights of Columbus. The lay Catholic group has sent $100,000. The second largest gift came from the conservative Christian organization Focus on the Family of Colorado Springs, Colorado. It donated $23,063. Washington DC-based Concerned Women for America contributed $2,000.
