Gay Governor's Coming Out Wins Paper Pulitzer Prize
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/04/040505pulitzer.htm

The Newark Star-Ledger has been awarded a Pulitzer Prize for its coverage of Gov. James E. McGreevey's announcement that he is gay and had an extra marital affair with another man.

In announcing the award for 'Breaking News Coverage' the Pulitzer Committee praised the paper's newsroom for "its comprehensive, clear-headed coverage"

In a hastily announced news conference on August 12, McGreevey said, "I am a gay American". (story) His announcement made McGreevey the highest ranking politician to identify himself as gay.

A friend of mine works for the Star Ledger. He said the whole paper is so proud of this.

1. I'm not sure I understand...
...what was Pulitzer-worthy about this story. I'll admit that I didn't read the Star-Ledger's coverage of it. What was different about the way they covered the story?
