Obtaining drugs from Canada
I need some help please.

My insurance no longer pays for one of my medications and the patient assistance program will not help me either (gee what a deal - cost of health insurance is cresting at over $1,000.00/mo.).

Does anyone know what the procedure is to get my prescription filled in Canada?

It is very costly here and an online search revealed that I can get a 90-day supply of the medication I need for >$60.00.

If you know of any specific resources/sites, please let me know.

Thanks so much.

2. I don't see it there
Do you need to mail them the doctor's RX? How does this work?

In any event, the medication I'm trying to get isn't on this site. :(

Thanks for your help in any event. :)

I'll give it a try. Luckily I have a doctor that I believe will help me.

Sadly I signed away my Medicare D rights to the corporation that runs my prescription drug plan.

FUCK THEM.

Note: Just wrote the Union a letter and told them what I thought and advised them to DUMP MEDCO. :argh:

5. Here's what I do
First, use pharmacychecker.com to find out who has the lowest price for a specific drug.

Second, nose around their website and find their physical address.

Third, go to napra.org to confirm they are a legit pharmacy.

You can usually fax or scan and Email your prescription, and maybe even the check for payment. If they take Ebillme, I rather like it.

8. BE VERY CAREFUL.

The online pharmacies have been in the news a lot. Not for not filling orders- but filling orders with meds from overseas. As is China.
There was one mentioned on here recently that was operating out of a PO Box and had an "F" rating from the BBB.

If you want to buy meds from Canada, you have my blessing. If it were me, I'd either go there and buy them from a legit actual pharmacy.
I don't think the drug makers allow them to sell them online to other countries but if you can find a drug chain that retails them, like a canadian version of walgreen's, that would be my choice.

If you think the meds here are expensive, consider that consuming Chinese meds could have some very expensive adverse effects or just not be effective.

9. Very true, that's why ...
... you want to always confirm that an online pharmacy is a legit licensed pharmacy using napra.org (National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities).
http://www.napra.org

Northwest Pharmacy is legit, and it's where my wife gets her meds.

I find the search function for the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia website a bit funky.

https://eservices.bcpharmacists.org/psearch/

So I use the list of community pharmacies and brute force search it.

They show up as this:

12. OK well my point was if you think rite aid is bad with an "A" rating, imagine what an "f"
would be like.

15. we have "F" rated ones where I live
Damn sonzabitches cheated me out of part of my prescription. I had to go to the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint to get the rest of my pills after having paid for them. I have not gone back there since and have (HAD) been going to Rite-Aid. Once I found out they are part of this ugly game I am playing, I have given up on them as well.

Luckily, there is a Costco where I live. They have reasonable prices. :)

13. F rating based upon one complaint. Not sure I'm ready to throw them away.
I'm generally not all that enthused about a BBB rating, but I could find no Canadian pharmacies on Angies List; however, the BBB is one more means of checking out a pharmacy.

Canada Drugs has a slew of accreditation, including A+ from the BBB. I have ordered from them as well.

Big Mountain Drugs is another one I have used, but no BBB report on them.

16. Frankly, I'm more interested in inspections and being open to the public.
If these organizations are essentially lying to the drug makers or are violating their agreements;
1.) It makes me wonder what else they are willing to violate and
2.) It makes me wonder what overseas market the drug are coming from.

For a while, you get a flight into toronto for like 99 bucks. Just make a day out of it. Get to a real pharmacy, go have a nice lunch.

14. You will need a prescription from your doctor
You can either fax it or mail it to the Canadian pharmacy along with a health questionnaire you will need to fill out. Once you fax the information and they've had a Canadian doctor rewrite the prescription after reviewing the application and questionnaire, you can order the medication online and pay by ATM or credit card. The process can take up to a month, although I understand they've gotten a little quicker. Refills usually take about 10 days, so having your doctor write for 90 days at a time is a good idea.

They won't do pain medication or any Schedule II-IV drugs. Most of that stuff is generic, though, and the price break wouldn't be that great.

I found the huge price breaks to be on things that were still on patent. The breaks on a lot of generic stuff weren't worth the hassle much of the time.

Also check WalMart, Target and Costco. They all have lists of generic drugs they offer cheaply.

Ordering from Canada is technically illegal. However, I don't know of anyone who has had a package confiscated. They do look at things coming from India and eastern Europe where narcotic pill mills are located, though.

Good luck. I did it years ago when I was taking stuff on patent.
