3. The freedom of being healthy
"I explained that the difference in being sick and being healthy is having to make choices or to consciously think about things when the rest of the world doesn’t have to."

Something Republicans need to understand.

13. ...Republicans don't "Understand" that's why they are still Republicans. >>link.
the GOP has been taken over by a bizarre religious cult that believes god/Jesus only bless the rich, punish the poor. wealth/power are proof gods favor of a man, so it is a sin to tax them. the poor are being punished by god, so it is a sin to help them, because they failed to "Submit" to gods great plan to make rich richer and accept that the rich act only by the Will of god. very strange but it was all started by a Nazi in 1934, who heard voices. the Oligarchy of America has adopted this Anti-Christ religion. it is made of secret prayer cells. called the Family, the Fellowship, C Street, the Christian Mafia. the GOP Oligarchy has been infected by this cult, the GOP no longer has a 'Platform', it has an ideology. that, as you may have noticed, is
non-compromising because their demands are orders from GOD. the guy that started this, Abraham Vereide, tried to keep it secret among the Financial/political Elite, but the GOP is drunk with theological delusions and megalomania. their popular political prayer breakfasts have somehow given them credibility

at least go down to the Leo Strauss comment, there are lots of interesting links there. Palin is a Dominionist, probably the only reason she was tapped for VP, McCain was probably lucky he lost. her preacher believes in witches and demon's. that a homosexuals demon can leap out of him and infect you with homosexuality if you get too close, poor Ted haggard found that out, and his demon took VISA, had some Crank too. tripple jeopardy

every GOP presidential cabinet sense Nixon was packed with Strauss Students and Disciples like Dick Chaney/etc, a big list is in the link.

4. My dear friend has lupus, sleeping is good for her if she gets two hours,
and the pain is 24/7 which she says she's as used to as breathing. She told me if there were a toxicology done on her she would be arrested (mostly just to sleep for those two precious hours). One of the reasons she moved to Florida was the heat. It didn't lessen the pain but made it more bearable. Then she lost a great job and she had to move back north to very frigid weather. You taught an invaluable lesson. Thanks for posting.

8. wonderful analogy
friends and I call it the bank account. Because people see me doing things they think there is nothing wrong and ask - why do I limit myself so much. What they dont see is what happens when the bank account is empty or the effort to conserve the bank account for a special event.

BUT - whether it is pain, fatigue or whatever - no one can understand and appreciate what someone else is going through. My doctor who has recently had heart surgery and other issues has made comments about his new understanding of what his patients are going through.

10. This is my life with MS.
I have never read a better way to describe it. It ia a bit after 3pm and I have already used up all my spoons for the day but I am grateful for what I did accomplish this morning.

14. I also have MS, and have seen this many times before (and live it every day).
It was nice to see it here as well.

11. I've described it as money in an energy bank
and every day, you pretty much know how much or how little you'll have to spend. Then I've described how much every activity costs and I've broken it down, too.

However, this is better, actually holding a concrete object in the hand gets it across better than the abstract energy cost.

If I ever bother trying to explain to a normie again, I might use this one.

I always wanted a way to explain this to other people.

This is a great analogy. I am copying to hard drive to share with others.

18. Fantastic article, I suffer from fibromyalgia and I don't even feel like some doctors take me
Edited on Tue May-31-11 02:03 AM by FLAprogressive
seriously. That's probably because I don't fit the mold, I'm young and male. Most people diagnosed w/ FM are middle-aged and female. A lot of people think fibro is just something in our heads....
