A Young Woman Believes She Would've Died If She'd Continued Treatment for Supposed Lyme Disease...
Please go to the link and read the whole thing as can only post a tiny bit. This is incredible and appalling. Yes, lyme disease can be difficult to diagnose but this is so wrong. This young woman is lucky she survived and will be lucky if she does not have repercussions in the future.

The relationship between Alyssa Goodale and the women treating her for Lyme disease ended abruptly in February 2010.

It had not been inexpensive, costing Alyssa's parents more than $10,000 out of pocket over a four-month stretch on "energy machine" sessions and vitamin and nutritional supplements, not to mention a pile of prescription drugs that were supposed to help her heal.

Therein lies the dilemma at the heart of this story, which examines the pitfalls that emerge when a clinic focuses on one diagnosis — Lyme disease, in this instance — to the exclusion of all others. Such single-mindedness blurs critical thinking that is central to the proper care of any patient....(more)

1. Really interesting article but I can't say I feel much sympathy for the
family. How much sympathy can one have for people falling for the tripe those two women are peddling? How surprised am I that the family met these two shysters at a church?

2. This is awlful.
I contacted Lyme disease in 95' but the doctors had no clue what I had till late 96'. By then is was uncurable. I have lived through awlful doctors and treatments, positive and negative tests (there is still no 100 percent accurate test on the yet). I have been unable to walk due to lyme arthritis, think clearly due to "lyme fog", and at times my memory is like swiss cheese. I didn't get really better until I lost my insurance and job and had start managing the disease on my own. The docs wanted me on so many meds, including daily antibiotics, for years. There would be some improvement for a short time but it would always return.

I now treat my lyme with nutrition, exercise and some herbal supplements. I see a doc once a year to get my lyme titter done. I have never been able to get insurance again and no government help because it is not classified as a chronic disease. This lady is very lucky and I would be surprised if these hacks did not leave her with some issues to deal with down the road.

3. It can be difficult to diagnose lyme, to even be able to get a test done
Then the test may show negative, but you still have it. Did you know Amy Tan struggled for yrs and finally figured out it was Lyme? The problem is trying to make everything fit 1 diagnosis and then not treating it right.

I hope you can remain healthy and your joints and mind heal, it can be awful. If you havenù't read of Amy Tan's struggle, she sounds a lot like you. Good uck to you.

5. I am unfamilar with Stephen Buhner. I have studied herbalism since I was a young girl.
And thank goodness for that. I least I function fairly well most days. But bad days are bad. I would be very interested in the herbal info. And thanks for the good wishes. I try not to let this disease get me down.

6. I will be saving up for this book. Being unemployed for 3 hrs kinda makes budgeting hard.
I grow most of my own herbs and get by on my herbal and crafting skills. One question-is cat's claw part of the protocol?

7. Deer tick clamped onto my eardrum - Mega ouch
I was surveying a hydroelectric plant site in the woods of Bowling Green, Kentucky. When I got back to the car I could feel the little bugger scratching and digging into my tympanic membrane. The local doctor reached in with tweezers and plucked the tick off after drowning it in alcohol. I got some follow-up anti-Lyme disease pills and ended up okay.

I just thought I'd share my gross tick experience story and help you lose weight by ruining your breakfast. :o
