Follow-up: My ex-boss died yesterday from a glioblastoma.
I got to visit her twice, once at the hospital and once at the hospice. She was conscious but could not respond other than eye-blinking and she squeezed my hand.

BTW, she was the attorney on Real Housewives of New Jersey who tried to restore Albie Manzo to law school based on his learning disability almost one year ago.

She was only 51 and leaves behind a daughter who just finished her first year of college.

My ex-boss leaves behind a legacy of helping people who needed legal help that the community could not or would not provide to them. She often didn't charge them at all. She wasn't Legal Aid. She just wanted to help. Her clientele were often parents whose children were removed by Child Protection and parents of children with learning disabilities.

4. Why is it that so many good, wonderful, generous, thoughtful people die?
And nothing ever seems to happen to the mean and selfish?

5. Case in point: Dick Cheney will likely outlive us all.
Evil bastard.

8. Always sad to hear of losing a person like this.
What a great legacy, though. Touched so many lives.

9. I am sorry. My sister died of the same thing at 51, 3 years ago.
It gets easier in some ways, but it sucks. She has 4 kids and two grandchildren and she is missing so much. It just really sucks.

10. My mom died from a glio in 1986 ...
... they are horrible, nasty, ugly cancers. She went in less than 6 months. :(

Light and blessings to you.

11. Sadly, one of the cancer cell lines that cannabinoids are effective at killing is glioblastoma.
Edited on Thu Jun-02-11 08:19 AM by Fly by night
Of course, you wouldn't know that from our government's agonizingly atherosclerotic prohibition policies re: cannabis.

I am sorry for your loss.

My mother was the most amazing, vibrant, wonderful ray of light ever to walk this earth. She touched so many people’s lives, and she was really the most incredible mother anyone could ever want. She was my best friend, and I will miss her more than words can say. I’d say ‘I’ll miss you,’ but I know you’re not really gone. I can feel you beside me even now. I love you so much.

14. So sorry to hear this.
Sounds like she was an outstanding human being. Especially since lawyers get so much bad press.

(I have a J.D. but not a license, so I can't personally sue anyone :D )

15. Here's her obituary, written by her 18 year old daughter.
Karin Rose White-Morgen, 51, lifelong resident of Bayonne passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 1st at the Father Hudson House, Center for Hope Hospice in Elizabeth, NJ. Karin was a member of multiple organizations, including the Autism Women's Network, and the Bayonne Democrats, as well as many others. She was the cochair of Obama for Bayonne, and an active supporter of the Democratic Party. Karin has held multiple jobs in a variety of professions, ranging from Teacher to Telephone Psychic. In 2006, she worked as a standup comedienne, performing alongside the likes of Lisa Lampanelli and Tony Rock. Finally, she settled into her passion- law. She dedicated her practice to fighting against injustice, and never settled until she felt her clients were getting what they deserved. She appeared on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" in 2010, when she was the lawyer for Albie Manzo. Karin was a passionate woman who always fought for what she believed in. She always provided a laugh when one was needed, and tried her hardest at everything she did. She lived for her daughter, who survives her along with her two brothers, and her parents. She was a very well-loved woman, and she will be missed dearly. "I don't want anyone to mourn or cry at my funeral- I want it to be a celebration! I want everyone to laugh and have fun! That's how I want them to remember me."
