National Health Care for America
After listening to the many candidates' different proposals and doing some thinking, I have come to the conclusion that the health insurance debate misses the point big time. Whether it is mandated, unmandated, single-payer or multi-coverage, it's still insurance and insurance is for losers.

People who have a loss identify themselves to the insurer and ask to be compensated. Generally, the insurance company is bound by what is on the written contract and they pay up, be the loss a hail damaged roof, a bumper damaged by being rear-ended, or a host of other unfortunate occurrences. This is not exactly a good way to handle things when health is involved. For many situations, like life-threatening accidents, a claims adjuster cannot schedule an appointment to come out and document what happened and send a report to the back office. As long as the debate is about insurance, there will never be health CARE for all Americans.

What needs to be done is to do an end run around the insurance part of health care and expand health care until health insurance withers on the vine. Doing this would not be difficult, as the necessary mechanisms are already in place: Medicare and the VA. With Medicare insuring care from private physicians, and the VA providing health care directly, some crafty legislators could replace the current American system with a Nationalized Health Care in a few years.

First year: Lower the Medicare benefits age to 62, the age at which people can first apply for Social Security. Allow the VA to treat spouses of veterans in addition to the veterans themselves.

Second year: Add to the list of disabilities and specific diseases that Medicare will cover for people under 62. Add parents of veterans to the list of those eligible for VA treatment.

Third year: Lower the Medicare benefits age to 60. Add children of veterans to the list of those eligible for treatment at VA facilities.

Fourth year: Lower the Medicare benefits age to 55. Add ALL federal workers to the list of those eligible for treatment to the VA.

Fifth year: After four years of pushing this past Republicans who protest that it is "creeping socialism", just pull out a gun and shoot the ones who still object.

1. I say we open Medicare to all who want to buy into it
instead of fattening insurance executives and move directly to Year 5.

2. Or we can extend an improved Medicare to all as set forth
in John Conyer's bill HR 676.

3. Little by little
I think the key is to be unrelenting and chip away at the Repub position bit by bit. Add small groups of people, instead of going for it all at once.

Remembering what happened to Hillary in '93, I think there needs to be subterfuge involved. Camel's nose under the tent, you know.

4. The way Canada did it was province by province.
We almost got it in California. It passed in the Senate and Assembly, and with the voters. But neo-con plant, Gov. Schwarzenegger vetoed it. If Grey Davis had been allowed to finish his elected term, we probably would be the first state with single payer universal health care. Other states would then want to follow. California could have been a start. Instead Gov. S is pushing for a plan that's identical almost to Hillary's plan.

6. SCHIP was supposed to do this
Expand SCHIP to include people in their mid-20's. Little by little we can expand SCHIP until everyone is covered. The pubs would have to sign the expansion each time or be hung with the anti-child albatross.

5. Agree - time for America to catch up to other countries
the need for health care is much greater than the profit the insurance cos. are making. We owe it to ourselves to move to the better systems that other countries have - we are worth it!

7. You need to be careful about what you choose.
Stay away from the WTO/WHO/CODEX ALIMENTARIUS.

REAL GOALS OF CODEX
This is to bring about international 'harmonization.' While global harmony sounds benign, is that the real purpose of this plan? While the stated goal of Codex is to establish unilateral regulations for dietary supplements in every country, the actual goal is to outlaw health products and information on vitamins and dietary supplements, except those under their direct control. These regulations would supersede United States domestic laws without the American people's voice or vote in the matter. LINK

CODEX guidelines will control all food labeling laws, internationally. If its GMO, you won't be told. If its irradiated food, you won't be told. If industrial waste is in the fertilizers, you won't know. The hard fought for standards to label 'Certified Organic' produce, will be discontinued.

PHARMA will have their way with you, if CODEX is allowed to take hold in the USA.
=====================================================================

We can have national healthcare WITH CHOICE.
