Raffle to support the American Cancer Society
Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 02:11 PM by tburnsten
I also posted this in the Cancer SUpport forum, but I figured that health forum would be another good place for it, feel free to buy a ticket or two, can't help out and can't win it if you don't buy any tickets. They are cheap tickets as well, give it a shot!

Specifically, breast cancer research at the American Cancer Society. The prize is a pink camo Dura-coated Stag Arms AR-15, the pictures are not the final finish, it is still being worked on, but it is pretty representative of what the pattern will look like. Tickets are $5 a piece, and all proceeds are going to the American Cancer Society. All state, federal, and local laws apply, so if you live in a gun-unfriendly state like California then they plan on selling it for you and sending you a check instead. Or you could put it up for auction online, adding even more to the charitable contribution. If there are any questions on how you would go about receiving it, I can probably answer most of them and if not, FBMG would be more than happy to answer, as would the guns subforum in DU.

2. Hmmm?
it's a nice AR-15 whose proceeds go to an excellent cause. just because it is a rifle and the raffle is to benefit the American Cancer Society doesn't make it macabre does it?

8. Well the people holding the raffle did what they could
They are a gun store, so naturally if they are going to donate some merchandise to hold a raffle with, they are going to be donating some gun stuff. I have heard from some people that the ACS is really not a very good charity, and that they spend most of their money on overhead, but I don't know, and it isn't like FBMG is in the charity-rating business, their hearts are in the right place.

And duracoating is expensive as well.
