Hi Congresscritter
I understand that you oppose the public option. This is bizarre because most other developed countries have public health care that achieves better results and costs less. Let me make this clear: the US spends more on health care than any other country and is way down in the league tables of results.
Even so, you oppose the public option. I can think of only three reasons why you would do so:
- You hope that, by killing a public option in the health bill, you will selfishly increase the likelihood of your own re-election.
- You are receiving bribes from the health insurers to kill the bill.
- You are fucking stupid.
Note that the reasons above are
not mutually exclusive. Any two, or even all three, may apply.
So what happens if you succeed? Over 70% of merkins want the public option. Which means that your chances of re-election are slim if you oppose the public option. Not just in the next election, but ever. If you oppose the public option you will have, as we say in the UK "pissed on your chips."
You probably think that you'll get a sinecure job with one of the insurance firms. But why would they hire you? If you were re-electable they could count upon you going through the revolving door to give them more favours. But you're not re-electable. Kill the public option and kiss your congressional career goodbye. And if you can't deliver your end of the bargain in future, they ain't gonna reward you. It's about profits - if you cannot contribute to the bottom line then fuck off and die.
So make up your mind. Do you want the perks of being a congresscritter or do you want the cold shoulder from the health insurance companies?
Oh, maybe you can come up with a fourth explanation for you being a fucktard. If so, please respond and watch me demolish it.
