No, nothing is wrong with me. It's just something I have been curious about.

1. since viruses can mutate fast
one wonders if you would have immunity for an ever changing bug.

2. yes, from that particular variant that made you sick.
but not from any mutations.

And the immunity is not 100%, more like 99.9%.

3. Not really, but when it mutates into superflu and kills 99% of the human race . . .
You might be in the surviving 1%.

9. Might be a reference to "The Stand" by Stephen King
Just thought of it since I'm now reading it.

4. Not from the seasonal flu - but you should be in good shape for H1N1 exposure this fall

6. I interpreted the questiona as referring to the actual flu, not the vaccine
I would assume that people who have already had the swine flu are unlikely to get it again in the near future; though they could still get other types of flu.

8. Interestingly the elderly seem to already have an immunity to H1N1.

12. CDC, here is a link.
This epidemiological data supports laboratory serology studies that indicate that older people may have pre-existing immunity to the novel H1N1 flu virus. This age distribution is very different from what is normally seen for seasonal flu, where older people are more heavily impacted.

It is the 3rd paragraph under "How have different age groups in the United States been impacted by novel H1N1 flu in terms of infection rates?".

14. Guess what? I haven't fallen for the hype. Please don't either!
They want to prepare us to take the vaccine in October. They put out this garbage about all the thousands who may potentially die from the next go-around, and then said: "Well, it might not happen." But put it out in the Universe to get all the germaphobes freaked.

15. So the CDC should just cross their fingers and not prepare?
I mean the Spanish Flu of 1918 also H1N1 only killed between 50 and 100 million people. Disturbingly the current H1N1 virus has similar characteristics of the 1918 virus. It was when the virus mutated in the 2nd wave in 1918 that it became so virulent and lethal. We are about to begin the 2nd wave of the current H1N1 virus, BUT according to you this is all hype and nothing to worry about because it might not be as bad as it could be.
