Get a real job!
That was the answer that Rush Limpballs gave to a caller who said that she paid for her own private health insurance,
but that it didn't cover a pre-existing condition that she had, and that the cost of medication was too high.

This caller explained that her employer can't afford to offer health insurance, and while she does pay over $400 a month for private health insurance, it does not
cover a pre-existing condition that she has. As a result she can't always afford the medication that she needs. Unfortunately, she makes too much to qualify
for assistance by the pharmaceutical companies and there's no generic equivalent of her medication.

Limpball's response was that she should "get a real job". I didn't realize that employers that don't offer health insurance aren't providing real jobs.

Does that mean they don't have to pay real money?

1. Oxycontin Boy telling someone to "Get a real job"
Now there is a major load of irony.

2. Many small businesses can't afford to pay for health insurance
In fact, the only time I've had insurance is when I've worked for government entities--school districts and state Special Services. The last two jobs I've had have been in the private sector, at businesses having fewer than five employees with gross yearly income under $250K. Sounds to me like Idiot Box is against small private businesses and is for government and big corporations. Hmm...might be fun to email him pointing this out....

3. "Against small private businesses and for ... big corporations"
You nailed it on the head. He makes his money shilling for mega-corporations, when the real engine of the economy is the small business sector. But Rush never lets reality get in the way of a good shill.

4. And many large businesses don't want to. I work for a state agency and 50% of the employees are

part-time, no insurance.

Also, locally GE and BMW hire lots of temps, I've been told, so they don't have to pay for insurance.

Not that ANY employer HAS TO offer medical insurance unless you've got a contract.

5. I'd like to just MAKE $400 a month
I think "get a real job" in Rush's language really means "just go away somewhere and die."
