New ladies mask for Sleep Apnea!
First, I must thank all the Health Forum friends for encouraging me to try the prescribed cpap machine.

I am doing better day by day but it is still a problem.

Today I read there is a new "ladies mask" that I can order after 3 months, Sept. 22 is the magic day for Medicare to pay for it or else it is about $125 -- it can be worn with any hair style --It doesn't brush up against your face and leave marks or mess up make up and it comes with smaller nasal pillows!

I am so excited because I'm sure it will be a major improvement in my ability to meet with success!

I'm not selling it but it is called the "Swift LD for Ladies."

It also mentioned in the article that (hope I'm quoting correctly)more that 50% of the patients that have sleep apnea are women and this should make it better for them.

4. I have the cpap machine but the pillows, even the small size
are hard to fit in my nose.

The full face mask and the one that covers just the nose make me want to scream.

Many people are using them with great success however.

3. When did you try it?
I've heard they are making rapid changes.

The 1st time I had a sleep study in 2002, it was ancient compared to now.

5. i used it ...
it's quite comfortable and works well for people who sleep on their sides. Unfortunately, in my case, the air pressure shooting out of the pillow was drying out my nose and making it sore -- this happened despite having warm humid air pumped from the CPAP. It's too bad, otherwise it would have been great because the nasal mask is a pain to use.

6. My nose got dry too and then I called the Rep
and he gave me suggestions about how to sqeeze the pillows to make the air not shoot out.

He explained how to match the dot on the blue guard to the dot on the pillow frame.

Check with your rep again.

I also went to the website and they updated their "hints" about what helps.

Keep trying.

7. If the pillows don't work for you then you might need to use a mask
Don't give up on the treatment just because one product did not work for you. Your respiratory tech should work with you to get something that is both comfortable and effective. If they aren't then scream bloody murder at whatever company you bought or are leasing the machine from until they get someone who will help you. If you were diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea then you absolutely need this treatment. It will not only save, but change your life for the better.

8. I pin a tennis ball to my undershirt - to keep me off my back.
I haven't had one episode of waking up gasping for breath (or the concommitant "climbing/struggling" type dreams) since I started wearing it.

9. My ladies mask just arrived yesterday and I Slept all night!!!!!
I have the Ladies Mask now and it is WONDERFUL!

It is 100% better. go to www.resmed.com

It's called the Swift LT for Her and make sure ,if it is needed ,to ask for the extra small pillows. That makes a world of difference. I could easily fit the pillows in my nostrils!

For the 1st time, I slept with it all night and did not use the tube that clips over your head.

I was able to watch TV and fall asleep ~ what a difference from the masks that have all the tubes in front of your face.

It even has little soft- washable covers for the side of your cheeks so your makeup doesn't get messed up!
