Dealing with cellulistis in my leg
More just venting than anything, but this is about my 4th round of it (every spring I alternate between cellulitis and a gastro-intestinal problem--doctor now thinks it may be allergies which bring my immune system down in the spring). Went to the doctor Monday and started drugs. I feel better in that there is no more fever or nausea or shakes, but the pain in my leg is still killing me. The red area has gone down a bit, and I'm someone with a pretty high pain threshold, but, damn, this is getting old.

Thanks for listening.

1. I've had three bouts and empathize. The last in a hospital for 1.5 weeks.

2. Ugh. I've had it, and have the scars to prove it. You have my sympathy.

3. DMSO?
I'm not a doctor, but that stuff clears up everything I've ever used it on.

4. I'm taking keflex for it
which has done the trick in the past. Just really need the swelling to go down so it stops with the pain. My lymphatic pain is gone, which is a good thing medically I guess.

7. Cellulitis is very painful and it can kill if not treated appropriately
Keflex is a good start, certainly, but a second broad spectrum antibiotic might kill all the bugs sequestered in the area that the Keflex has left behind in previous years.

Also call your doc for a mild narcotic until the swelling is reduced enough that you can stand it. Pain control is important, too.

5. DMSO is a neurotoxin.
Nobody should be casually messing with it.

6. Interesting. First I've heard of that condition.
Sorry you have to suffer through it, GM.
