Just got my first juicer.
I'm soliciting any advice, anecdotes, etc. about the benefits of freshly made juice esp. concerning your endocrine network.

3. That doesn't address my soliciting for its benefits . . . .
That's begging the question.

Thanks anyway.

5. ok i lied. and broke the rules. you are not on my ignore list. The main benefit
of a juicer is the wicked drinks you can make with it

4. I've had one for about 5 years.
Edited on Sun Jun-27-10 04:53 PM by tridim
I used it for 2 weeks before getting sick of cleaning it. It took about 40 minutes to clean. Ugh..

Other than that, the juice was amazing. Apple/Strawberry/blueberry/carrot was my fave.

I'd say it's a good investment if you have a big family, and access to apple trees. Apples are much more expensive than pre-made cider.

7. Jack LaLanne (? sp.) is still around and kicking and he's been
juicing for years. There may be recipes on his website also...Remember, the acid in the fruits and veggies, can erode the enamel in your teeth..(I just saw the advert for Sensodyne, I think)....LOL.

8. Buy organic to juice.
Since you are concentrating things by juicing. Was them well too. Dr Bronners soap is good to wash produce. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=dr+bronner%27s+soap+uses&aq=2&aqi=g10&aql=f&oq=Dr+bronn&gs_rfai=C7amYwtwnTILjEYvwygSA17imAwAAAKoEBU_QfqV2

9. If you are going to juice, juice a bunch, a pitcher full.
Although the cleanup is not horrible it's not quick and easy either.

10. BUT!
Drink it fast. 24 hours or less because there are no preservatives in it, it don't last long.

Also:

Find a Farmers Market and go nuts.
Buy a lot of different fruits and vegetables and go home an experiment.

I make a fresh vegetable juice that makes V8 taste like motor oil.
Sometimes, I even leave the Vodka and celery stalk out of the glass.

But, I never forget the fresh ground pepper and dash of hot sauce.

11. I love my juicer
Every morning I toss in a fresh lemon and some veggies - carrots, celery, cucumbers, or whatever else. It makes me feel great and I'm a lot less hungry during the day.
