The smaller the crime, the bigger the investigation.

I live in San Diego. We've got serious problems in city hall involving pension underfunding and millions of dollars. So what does our daily newpaper investigate? It seems the local food bank doesn't have enough security and some people might be getting food who don't really need it. Well, if you ever got commodities, you'd know that nobody who doesn't need it would ever take it.

$9 billion missing in Iraq, and what do we investigate? Why the possibility that the NAACP might have misappropriated some Thanksgiving turkeys, of course.

We've got war criminals running the country, and we're putting people in jail for smoking pot.

I've got an ulcer and I thought it was strange because I didn't realize I was under a lot of stress. Well, I am. Living in a fascist country is stressful, every minute of every day. All I see is injustice and there isn't much I can do about it.

1. Ulcers are from bacteria, not stress.
Your doctor should know that, but good luck! I know it hurts BAD!

7. Ulcers are not always from bacteria
A lot of the time they are from stress.

2. I'm in San Diego, too.
Here's 2 pieces of news to cheer you:

1. Funds are being raised to appeal Donna Frye's case to the State Supreme Court (I know, because I was asked to proofread a fundraising letter tonight from a top DEM);

2. A "recall Murphy" effort will likely be mounted within 6 months if Frye loses on appeal.

We may be stuck with fascists in Washington for the time being, but we can certainly kick those corrupt Republicans out of our City Hall.

3. Whoo hooo! Whooop! Yaaaaay!

Best news I've had all day, Liberty Belle.

I still think we ought to go back to the old tried and true method of covering the crooks with tar and feathers and running them out of town on a rail. I know it doesn't sound civilized, but at least that way nobody could pretend they didn't know our intentions.

I can't afford to donate towards the appeal, but I'll be happy to volunteer my time to collect signatures to recall Murphy. It will be interesting to make hundreds of new friends every day just by standing around with a clipboard. It'll be the most fun I've had since F9/11 came to San Diego.

5. Tar and feathers would be fitting for the rogues in City Hall,
but a recall is the next best thing. ;-)

I'm having a great time envisioning throngs of DUers out collecting signatures at a big public event, such as, hmmm, the County Fair? (Maybe we could rent a booth!) What else is coming up?

4. Donna Frye Rocks!
I'm in her district. The voter intent was clear. Now hopefully somebody will listen.

6. REPS don't care about voter intent, only winning.
The judge last week was a conservative from Orange County. Luckily the Supremes are mostly liberal in CA, so there's a good chance they'll agree with your perspective (the common sense approach any moron should get).
