LOS ANGELES - An alumni group is offering students up to $100 per class to supply tapes and notes exposing professors who allegedly express extreme left-wing political views at the University of California, Los Angeles.

5. Totally misleading title

UCLS is NOT beginning a witch hunt, or doing anything in regard to this. It's a small, private, nutty group of alumni. It's hardly remarkable. It may be despicable, but they have every right to do it, that little old pesky free speech 1st amendment thing. In any case, you should post more accurately. You're sliming the school.

6. That's why professor tenure is so important

Because of fascist groups like this one. Some professors do research in controversial fields, or they arrive at findings that are unpopular (ie. abstinence only sex ed. does not work, or Bush voters were more likely to believe that Iraq was involved in 9/11). If groups like this are allowed to succeed, then professors will shy away from doing research in controversial areas, or not publishing findings that will make people feel uncomfortable.
