Just talked to my dad, a 35-year GM salaried retiree, who told me he just received notice GM is moving their health coverage from Kaiser to Blue Cross. Their monthly payments will go up as will their co-payments, and they will have a deductible of $1500 a year -- currently they don't pay any deductible at Kaiser. Don't know about lab work yet, therapy or other tests, but it sounds like they're going to be forced into paying a lot more for a lot less -- what else is new?
Can't find any Web links on this so I'm asking if any GM retirees on DU are experiencing anything similar.
Dad says when he was offered early retirement in 1984 he was promised his health care would be covered 100% for the rest of his life. Sounds ludicrous today, I know, but 23 years ago it was a plausible benefit.
