I don't mean really makes it thicker. I mean does it make each hair strand grow thicker. Gelatin is supposed to do that.

At a health food store, a clerk suggested vegetal silica.

1. Hair gel and mousse do about the same things
and are probably a lot cheaper.

The best strategy for thin, fine hair is to keep it short.

3. Odd that you should ask. I have never tried silica. Never heard of it
however you've peaked my interest because as I have gotten older my hair strands have become much thinner and I get weird frizziness. I like my hair shoulder length so the frizziness is an issue. I don't know if that you have a similar issue however what I stumbled upon and is amazing is coconut oil. After washing and conditioning, I rub about 2 teaspoons on my hair, wait a few minutes then simply rinse. The frizziness is gone.

I have also recently read that grape seed oil is used extensively in hair and cosmetic products and that one can follow the same procedure with it so I am going to try the oil to see which is better.
