GOP flip-flop on Social Security!

This is an email the latest info to your email address site!

====================================================

Weak links ???? Five Democratic senators — Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota, Tim Johnson of South Dakota and Evan Bayh of Indiana — represent states that Mr. Bush carried with at least 60% of the vote in November. Messrs. Nelson and Conrad are up for re-election in 2006.

Josh Marshall's latest on Social Security:

the president ...got only one Democrat clearly on his side -- the poltroonish Allen Boyd
===================
Iowa Quad City Times -(Bush) "appeared to suggest ... that the scheduled rate of increase in Social Security benefits is not in step with reality." (the current scheduled benefit rates are impossible or can't really happen- reducing benefits from those which can't really happen doesn't count as 'cuts'.) "You can call it anything you want. I would call it an adjustment to reality,” ======================
...'over 55 and you're safe' promise???? ....how he can guarantee that when many of those people will be alive thirty or even forty years from now and he wants to pull lots of money out of the system.

1. Fixing link
The link should be <http://www.gopcaughtontape.com/>.

Although it says "caught on tape", it's not a video or audio tape. For each of three House Republicans, it gives a written transcript of a short passage from a campaign ad he ran in 2002, juxtaposed with current expressions of receptiveness to Bush's plan.
