New NASA Administrator?
Ok, I posted this in GD and didn't get so much as a peep. I figured I might have better luck here. If not, fuck it...I'll take the hint. :)

Has anyone heard anything indicating when Obama might pick a new NASA admin. Since Mike Griffin quit, the deputy admin is temporarily in charge? General Scott Gration was a leading contender but I've read that his changes have faded. Seems like they would have had enough time now to pick someone.

2. wow, didn't realize Griffin was already gone ...
i checked space.com, no appointment yet (they're always the first to break major NASA news). That's not surprising since Obama has some more pressing issues to deal with, like the economy and Iraq. I think NASA can afford to coast with Scolese a bit longer.

Bill Nelson is creating a fuss over a possible Gration nomination; he wants a NASA veteran in that position, like Charlie Bolden. I like Bolden ... i think he was considered for the position some years back, but could not accept it because of some air force assignment obligations. But i don't think Gration should be disqualified either, just because he has no NASA employment history. It might be a good thing to get some fresh blood into the agency.

Oh well, i work for a NASA contractor, and I'm not worried. I believe Obama will make a good and thoughtful selection. It will be OK.

5. I like Bolden for the position too.
Gration may have been/will be a decent NASA admin but it would make more sense to look for someone who has NASA experience. I'd like someone who is enthusiastic about human spaceflight, but I don't know what Obama's view is on that subject.
