1. Is This Like the Terrence McKenna Stuff?
He referred to December 2012 as a singularity based on his strange mapping of the I Ching with the introduction of novelty into history.

Some of the people on this site refer to 2035.

2. Not sure who McKenna is.
These guys predict that technology will suddenly leap up exponentially,but we won't notice because of the leaps it has aleady made. They say it will reach a point that no one can predict or imagine the changes. The journey from tubes to transistors to ic's to supercomputers took decades,the singularity will happen in months.

by Ray Kurzweil. It's a fantastic book. Kurzweil is a visionary, IMO.
