Shipment of fuel-cell powered product announced
ALBANY, N.Y. -- MTI MicroFuel Cells Inc. announced Tuesday that an industrial product powered by a micro fuel cell has started shipping.

MTI's fuel cell is being used in a portable radio frequency identification (RFID) reader manufactured by Intermec Technologies Corporation.

Fewer than a thousand units will be shipped, but MTI officials called it a landmark as companies race to create a fuel cell that could eventually be used in consumer products like laptops and cell phones.

"This industry first is a great accomplishment for our company and certainly a milestone for the fuel-cell sector," said Dr. William Acker, President and chief executive officer of MTI.

Likely these were restricted environment products; Do not freeze, etc.

2. Hmmm.....fueled by a "tiny flow of methanol".
MTI's fuel cells rely on a tiny flow of methanol to generate electricity. Fuel cells being developed by MTI and other companies are supposed to last around five times longer than standard batteries.
