Hi. We've never met but I know way too much about you. For some reason the news has told me all about your genitals and hormone levels, which I doubt you would tell me about even if we had met. However, I have learned a great deal from you. You are undergoing profoundly personal scrutiny by people around the world, yet you had this to say about it: "I see it all as a joke, it doesn't upset me. God made me the way I am and I accept myself."

This rocked my world. Instead of focusing on your body, I am admiring your spirit. Under much less ridicule, women come to hate themselves. Magazines and models, parents and peers all teach young girls in this country that we are less than perfect if we don't look and act a certain way. We are teased for being too fat, too tall, wrong color skin, bad clothes but rarely do we think to let it roll off our backs and simply laugh at this crazy world that emphasizes the importance of such things.
