The Curse of 1920 - All of this country's problems can be solved if only women would just go home!
http://thecurseof1920.com/

This self-published book says women should get out of government, out of "men's clothes" and go back home in order to restore this nation, which has broken down beyond repair ever since women got the right to vote.

(to be fair, I have to admit, I don't take this guy seriously at all. I don't think any government can work when it is run by and serves only HALF of society's population. But I did here about this on talk radio this morning when trying to get a traffic report, and some people take it seriously, even to the point of suggesting that because women can vote, we have a lot of "yes dear" laws designed to mollify women. Besides, the author apparently has self-published, including writing his own blurbs about the book "Once again Gary demonstrates the unique ability to take a common subject and present it in an incredibly revealing and insightful way")

Some solutions to reversing this curse:

The Women’s Rights Movement:

The escalating destruction of our nation in the last ninety years has proven that the woman is the weaker vessel who is easily deceived, and needs the strengthening of the law to protect her from the temptation of filing for divorce, rejecting her head, leaving the home, and destroying the family, or getting involved in government. Our nation has sadly proven that abandonment of patriarchal government destroys the home and this nation. To reverse this Curse:

(1) The Nineteenth Amendment must be repealed and men alone be given the right to vote and to govern,
(2) We must restore the patriarchal government whereupon this nation was founded, including property and divorce laws, and
(3) We must establish a sunset law on public welfare so as to restore the structure of the home—a man and a wife—as well as initiative.

To restore the family:

(1) The man is the head of the home and head of society, and the woman cannot exercise the authority of the man in either,
(2) The husband is to love and honor his wife,
(3) The wife is to obey her husband,
(4) Divorce is not an option (except in the case of infidelity),
(5) The married woman is to be the keeper of the home and refrain from working outside of it, and
(6) Children are to obey their parents in all things.

And, women need to:

Repent and get out of men’s clothing and the place of the man and find their place in the home under their husband’s authority, covering themselves in modest women’s clothing.

1. When half the human race is enslaved, of course the other half
to which it is enslaved benefit greatly.

Do we as a whole really want to pay the cost in the human misery of the enslaved?

2. I tell you what...
If Gary's mom finds out he wrote this bullshit she's going to kick his ass and if Gary's wife finds out about it he ain't gettin' none for a long, long, time.

On a more serious note, that's some strange stuff. I think Gary should consider moving to another church, because that had to be the genesis of this drivel.

3. Or, we could try sending the men home.
Seems to me this country has been broken from the start. Of course the folks who were entitled to own people as property have a different view on that.

L.W.Fern suggests that:

The escalating destruction of our nation since its founding has proven that the man is the weaker vessel who is easily deceived, and needs the strengthening of the law to protect him from the temptation of resorting to violence, militarism, and theft, or getting involved in government. Our nation has sadly proven that patriarchal government destroys the home and this nation. To reverse this Curse:

(1) Men who have engaged in white male supremacy rituals shall forfeit the right to vote or own property.
(2) We must destroy the patriarchal government whereupon this nation was founded, including property and divorce laws, and
(3) We must establish a sunset law on inheritances so as to destroy the white patriarchy upon which this nation was founded.

To restore human rights:

(1) The woman is the head of the home and head of society, and the man cannot exercise authority over others,
(2) The husband is to obey his wife,
(3) The wife is to respect her husband if he respects her,
(4) Ignoring child support is not an option,
(5) The man is to refrain from using violence of all sorts to impose his will on others, and
(6) Children are to learn to make coffee and must bring it to their mothers upon request.

And, men need to:

Repent and get out of military clothing and find their place in the service of others.

4. At long last, the Dominionists are admitting, right up front, what they
are all about. People better sit up and take notice. They are growing in power and influence.

They seek the total enslavement of women, and that's just the first act.

7. That's kind of how I look at it. The more vocal the crackpots are, the more likely folks will sit
up and notice.

It was feminists was it not who were responsible for creating age of consent laws and child pornography laws?

9. So you can divorce for infidelity, but not abuse? Why am I thinking that
"infidelity" only counts if the wife cheats...

12. No doubt....
Edited on Tue Oct-02-07 12:14 AM by Triana
...that's what it's typically meant, and still does. Have a gander at askmen.com if you can stomach it. Not much has changed. Right next to articles on "how to cheat on your woman" are articles on "how to catch your woman cheating".

Nothing's changed.

Women are still largely thought of as property. The laws we have on the books don't go NEARLY far enough in protecting them from verbal, emotional, psychological, financial, physical, and sexual abuse.

I see the slavery contingent would like to roll back those laws, which they called (in the OP) 'woman mollifying' laws.

I think those laws need to be strengthened and enforced and brought upon the books as HUMAN RIGHTS issues. Abuse of women is a HUMAN rights issue - NOT a women's issue. And when it comes to how that causes problems in society - it's because we violate the HUMAN RIGHTS of half our population.

Until and unless that problem is rectified, our societal woes will continue and worsen.

10. Is this guy's real name Mullah Omar?
And why isn't he in Afghanistan and taking up with the Taliban and Al Qaeda? He seems to espouse a lot of their ideals.

Yo! Homeland Security! We got a live one for ya!

(No, I wouldn't really foist this guy off on the Afghans. They have their own Taliban to worry about.)

13. "Divorce is not an option (except in cases of infidelity)"
So it's perfectly all right for a man to beat the shit out of his wife, just so long as he isn't cheating on her? :wtf:

"find their place in the home under their husband’s authority" - Jesus God, this is all KINDS of wrong.

16. as recently as 40 years ago
this was acceptable.

"hey, he beats me up when he's got a snootful, but at least he's a good provider and doesn't cheat on me"

i had friends who grew up in houses like this.

so it is not all that long ago that this was not considered wrong. especially in RCC households where divorce was anathema.

17. this is actually being taught in a church in Gwinnett County, GA
A woman I know was told her husband's beating her was not reason for a divorce. Some church members even suggested she was probably not submissive enough.

18. The worst part...
The really nauseating part is the part where the author twists a few words of Scripture into the text, to make them mean what they absolutely do not.

I also find it ironic that he mentions "the husband is to love and honor his wife". It's hard for me to see how anyone who would write a book like this could love his wife, and he definitely doesn't "honor" her. What a joke.
