Watch out for roofies!
My friend went out drinking a few weeks ago. Even though she was WITH a female friend, a guy they had just met bought them drinks.

My friend remembers feeling ill and wanting to leave the bar.

The next thing she remembers is sitting in handcuffs at the jail downtown about 5 hours later getting charged with being drunk in public.

She wasn't sexually assaulted, so the evening could have had a FAR worse ending.

Such as it is, she has to go to court for something she doesn't even remember.

So ladies, be careful out there. :pals:

1. Do you mean rohypnol or something else?
And is there no way she can go after this creep? There's no LAW against this? (no he didn't rape her but...he DRUGGED her and placed her in a compromising, illegal situation without her knowledge or consent).

2. My SIL was drugged, kidnapped, and brutally raped a couple of years back.
She was at a bar with a whole group of friends, and one of the guys, a friend of a friend in the group, put stuff in her drink. The next thing she knew, she woke up in his apartment, bleeding and naked. He'd really done some damage, and he was threatening never to let her leave. Her cell phone had died in the meantime, but her friends tracked her down (bless them) and she managed to run out when he opened the door to their knocking.

She's lucky to be alive, frankly, and while she refuses to get counselling for it, it's still something that bothers her and probably always will.

3. She was probably too impaired to insist on a serum drug screen
which would have turned up whatever her drink was laced with. Rohypnol is just one of many possibilities.

Bottom line, do NOT accept a drink from anyone's hand but the bartender's and do NOT drink it if it has been left unattended.

I wish police departments would get a little wiser to this stuff when women come in blind drunk, dazed, and with no memory of what has happened to them. I think drugging is a lot more widespread than anyone wants to admit.
