Martin Luther King III Walks To See Poverty
By Roger Weeder
First Coast News

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Martin Luther King III as part of his "Poverty in America Tour" visited several neighborhoods in the city to learn first hand the depth of the problem.

The son of the late civil rights leader is picking up where his father left off in leading a campaign to "Realize the Dream."

King is spending two days in the city meeting with community leaders and seeing first hand the problems that face the city.

King told First Coast News while walking the streets of North Riverside, "If we were in a third world country perhaps we could understand. With the wealth and the inordinate amount of wealth and the blessings this nation has, it really makes no sense certainly to have the level of poverty we have."

King made Jacksonville the first of thirty cities he will visit by summer. He will use the information gathered to help develop a plan of action.

Unfortunately if you aren't given access to the "inordinate amount of wealth and blessings this nation has" you might as well be living in a third world country. :-(
