Poverty advocates, please support this thread

It makes the case for a Guaranteed Minimum Income, which I believe to be by far the best solution to poverty in America. Because the post is fairly long, somewhat detailed, and it deals with a unpopular approach to an unpopular subject, I expect few responses. Still, I advocate for this because it might help open the idea for consideration in a few minds.

Unfortunately I have a condition which causes severe absent-mindedness at times. Good thing others are there to catch it. :)

Do you think that your claims are self-evident, or you just didn't want to trouble yourself to support them? Either way, unsupported proclamations have little or no weight. I made a detailed case, and opponents can't simply nay-say it with a single sentence and expect to be taken seriously.

Regarding inflation, a COLA index solves it. Additionally, many (myself included) would argue that "inflation" is far from a sufficient reason to allow American citizens to do without the basic necessities of life, even if it were a necessary consequence of providing them. And as for "declining production," who's to say we couldn't greatly benefit from moderately decreased production in some areas? Have you looked at the state of the environment lately, just for starters? Growth and production for their own sake are not necessarily desirable goals - and this says nothing of the potential social benefits that could follow from a decreased emphasis on such concerns.
