If I'm a vegetarian primarily for health reasons
and don't mind if other people eat meat (Heck, I even cooked a pork roast for Christmas for the family.), does that make me some kind of traitor or bad vegetarian?

Do you feel pressure from other vegetarians to have a stronger commitment?

1. No. It doesn't.
It is a personal decision, and nobody should give you a hard time anymore than you should them! I personally won't cook it. My husband is great about it though. He cooks his own! I won't lie....ideally it would be great if everyone would quit eating meat. Do I see it happening? No.

Just make sure you are happy. If you aren't comfortable making it, don't. If you are fine with cooking it and not eating it, keep doing that! Don't worry about what anyone else has to say :)

Just my two cents!

Meg

2. people who are
vegetarians for ethical reasons sometimes get... well, emphatic about the ideals. I'm one of them--it's like any ethical debate, if you feel strongly about something you tend to want others to see your point of view.

I appreciate anyone who has made the choice to eliminate meat from their diet, and whatever your reasons for doing it, the end result is the same. There is one more healthy person, and one less meat-eater.

You are not a traitor! I applaud you and wish you excellent health.:)

3. I'll take a vegetarian any way I can get it
:-)

I won't cook meat and I do mind when other people eat it. But I never said I wasn't an extremist :P

4. I don't know why anyone would eat meat, with all the
hormones and crap they put in it. I know many people who have quit for health reasons. I sort of feel like they have evolved while others are happy to remain cavemen ;-) .

I've never really felt pressure. Oh, maybe once or twice, but I'm happy with the efforts I've made. I know I've saved hundreds of lives and that's enough for me.

5. No
I did not eat meat as a child and after surviving a few trips to the pediatrician with my mother who was certain I would wither away, any thing dished my way now rolls right off...

I "fell off the wagon" for many years, and as a cancer survivor one of the first things I was told was to avoid anything with growth hormones in it.

I went back to my diet of childhood and feel much better for it. It has saved me quite a bit of money as well :eyes:
