Peta thread in LBN......
I swear, these are becoming the equivalent of "Ask me Anything" in the Lounge :::sigh:::

My biggest concern is with those DUers who still don't get the media genius of PETA, and use these threads to bash all that is compassionate?

1. I've discovered that both the "Ask me anything" and
anything with "PETA" in the thread title are open invitations for hateful diatribes from people for whom compassion and civility are foreign concepts.Kind of shocking on a "progressive" discussion board.

2. LOL....I don't usually respond to the Ask Me threads....
..which is the closest thing we have to Freep mentality, imo. I do try to respond to hateful PETA messages with links to other animal advocacy groups that support PETA's "claims".

What bothers me more by Peta-hater responses is that some of them are 1000+ posters who are quoting from industry propaganda websites. You know the ones, "peta supports terrorism" et al. Makes me want to hit Alert ! LOL.

5. I know, I know.
I generally don't post in those, because what I'd really like to say would probably get deleted.

Some of these liberals who constantly bash PETA remind me of the people who think Iraqi civilian deaths are okay because they're not Americans, or the pro-lifers who admittedly don't give a shit about the baby after it's born.

8. I stayed out of that thread all together.
Sometimes it is so hard to ignore the idiotic comments, but sometimes you have to realize who and what you are dealing with.

9. I work with an idiot conservative ...
who understands what PETA is about. Actually, his attitudes towards animals are better than what I've seen around here. But, I do try to keep in mind that there are those who post a LOT on this board who simply want to start fights. It's an internet-thing and a lurking-Freeper thing.

10. Very good point.
Some people seem to just want to push as hard as they can to piss a lot of people off. :eyes:

12. I get so tired of those
hateful threads, I never know whether to get into them or ignore them. Getting into them doesn't do any good and only gets me aggravated, not saying anything though makes me feel disloyal. :-( I think I will just hit the 'ignore thread' option so I don't even have to see the damn thing. :argh:

13. They drank the Kool Aid
It's not the same Kool Aid, but it's Kool Aid nonetheless. Like everything that the Bushbots believe, it suits them. It all boils down to what you want to believe and want to think, all cloaked, shrouded and filtered by personal beliefs.

Compare and contrast and you'll see it's true. Sad, but true.

15. Ditto.
What jerks some people can be. I especially loved the one that said how well the dairy cows were treated and how they "grazed" all day b/c no farmer in his right mind would allow otherwise. :argh:

17. that was the worst.
the willfully ignorant. sure! there are no factory farms, those photographs from numerous organizations are completely fabricated in a vast conspiracy against farmers! dairy cows lead wonderfully fulfilling lives out on the open range! that rbgh they pump into them is for their own good!

18. Wow
I don't know if I would call it progress but I feel a certain satisfaction in seeing the speciesism laid bare. I was actually told that peta activists are "no better than common animals" and "deserve to be locked up like animals".

19. the upshot
I was so sickened by that whole thing that I had to talk to a friend about it. In the middle of our conversation she decided to go vegan on the spot. So, good things can come out these messes...
