SCLC making plans to honor Vick

When the SCLC gathers this week to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., and the promise of Barack Obama, the presence of at least one more major figure will loom large – Michael Vick.

During a press conference announcing the opening of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference's 49th annual convention to celebrate the organization's 50th year, president Charles Steele noted that the organization would find some way to honor and recognize the embattled Falcon's quarterback who is under federal indictment on dogfighting charges.

...his proficiency in murdering animals? His unique methods of torturing his dogs? The creative idea of wetting down a dog, and electrocuting it? Grabbing a dog by its legs and pounding it's head in the ground? Taking a dog out, which didn't measure up to his standards, and capping him with a couple of bullets?

Or his smuggling drug paraphernalia through an airport? Or his shooting a bird at the fans who bought a ticket to watch him play?

Do tell, SCLC, of these wondrous awards we should honor Vick with...

An org with Christian in the title that is associated with ML King more than any other, decides to associate itself with Vick at this point. Too bad. There will be plenty of time for that in the future if for some reason he is cleared.
