Boca Burger? Or Morningstar Farms? Other, or neither?

Going to CostCo to stock up on important things like cat litter and blank DVDs. I noticed the last time I was there that they also carry Boca Burger and Morningstar Farms products...

Anyone have an opinion on which one is better? Either for taste reasons, or for company profile?

Boca is owned by Kraft. If you don't mind supporting a company that makes that Blue Crack in a Box I think they are delicious. Morningstar Products are owned by Kellogg. Their Faux Sausage is yummy but contains egg so I don't eat it anymore. I have concerns about most "processed" products made by big companies...and personally I really try to eat super "clean" but I do have those Vegan Burgers in my freezer.

The bags of Brown Basmati Rice and Quinoa are great deals. The cases of Organic canned chopped tomatoes also come in handy for throwing a quick meal together.

2. Of those two? Boca for burgers. But, I far prefer MF Chicken Grillers.

They used to be the Gardenburger Chicken Grillers before they bought them out. The Riblets as well, same thing. I like their "steak" strip meal starters in my fajitas.

3. Costco also carries Don Lee Farms frozen veggie patties.

They're grainy/veggies rather than soy-based, and thus not high-protein like the Bocas (which I love!). But they're great if you want something a little different, and they taste really good.

6. just my personal opinion, but...

I would not eat either. I stay away from overly packaged, overly processed anything: usually... there are so many ways to fix grains and beans and nuts and veggies and spices and fruit that it just makes "fake meats" not make sense. I also try not to purchase anything connected to large corporations. I will humbly admit that when I have to go to Chili's to eat, I do get the salad and substitute the black bean burger for the chicken :blush:

7. That's a good point: There are MANY great veggie burger recipes.

I try to eschew processed foods as well, but I'll admit I keep a stock of store-bought veggie burgers (both Don Lee Farms and Boca Vegan) in the freezer for those days when I'm running late for everything. ;)

But really, take an hour or two on the weekend and make your own veggie burgers to freeze. It only takes a couple of tries to find the recipe/consistency you prefer, and they're much better than store-bought.
