What are the best vegan hot dogs?
Just wondering as I am trying to get my dh and kids to join me on my vegan journey. I thought I would surprise them tonight with vegan hot dogs and steamed veggies with brown rice.

1. I've only tried a few of the varieties out there, but I like the Tofurky ones.
I think they make two kinds of hot dog, a regular and a flavored one. I've found most of the veggie dogs that I've tried to be fairly gross, but then I was never a big fan of regular hot dogs as a kid either.

Hopefully someone else here will have a better, more definitive answer for you.

2. I prefer vegan sausages to hot dogs, but ...
Smart Dogs are pretty close to the original--for good or ill. :D

5. That's just an absurd overreaction.
When my veg friends and I have omnis over for boardgame days veggie dogs are one of our go-to quick lunch options. Even the dedicated meat eaters chow down on them without batting an eye. In the words of one of them "Who cares if they're veggie -- hot dogs are just a mustard delivery system!"

6. "just a mustard delivery system"

Anyone who really gets bent out of shape over not getting his RDA of lips & assholes in pressed-meat-tube format deserves a slap upside the head with Fast Food Nation.

7. Lips and assholes!

 No wonder I never really likes hot dogs when I was an omnivore.

Edited to add that even though it made me laugh at first, now it sends a shiver up my spine knowing that I used to eat lips and assholes in tube form.
