Hot damn. PETA shuts down PLRS!
Remember I posted this a short while ago? PETA's undercover investigation of PLRS?

Weh-heh-heh-hell, it seems like it worked...

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - An animal cruelty investigation has led to a federal investigation after Norfolk-based PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) revealed disturbing undercover video showing what appears to be extreme animal abuse.

Because of the allegations, more than a dozen of the abused animals arrived at the Norfolk SPCA Friday afternoon.

<snip>

n addition to the Norfolk SPCA, about 30 out of more than 200 animals allegedly abused are expected to come to Hampton Roads in search of new homes, according to Laurel Uhlar, President of Beagles to the Rescue .

PETA spent nine months investigating Professional Laboratory and Research Services (PLRS).

After revealing their findings to the federal government, the facility in Corapeake, North Carolina, just over the Virginia line, shut its doors.

SHUT. ITS. DOORS.

PETA Press Release:

Investigation Victory: Just one week after PETA released the results of its shocking undercover investigation of North Carolina–based contract animal testing facility Professional Laboratory and Research Services, Inc. (PLRS) and filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), PLRS is surrendering nearly 200 dogs and dozens of cats and shutting its doors for good. This is a monumental victory and the first time that a laboratory has been forced to surrender animals and close under pressure on the heels of a PETA investigation and while facing a formal USDA investigation.
